Now it is being developed as a weapon for coastal/coastal defense with the implementation of various types of new ammunition with relatively longer ranges.
18. KRYL
The Polish State Military Industry introduced the mobile howitzer weapon system named Kryl, as a NATO-compatible self-propelled wheeled howitzer manufactured by Centrum Produkcji Wojskowej Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW). The 155mm/L52 caliber is carried by the Polish-made 6x6 Jelcz 663 tactical truck platform, supported by an artillery fire control system in the form of gun-electronic TOPAZ.
This weapon system is a development of the ATMOS 2000 weapon system made by Elbit Systems, Israel. Poland produces it on a license basis. Prototypes began to be built in 2014, and production will begin in 2021. The weapon system is already undergoing field tests in Poland.

Howitzer caliber: 155mm/L52.
The maximum firing range with the Extended Range Full Bore Base Bleed (ERFB-BB) projectile is up to 40 km. Average firing: 6 rounds per minute. Vehicles/platforms carry supplies of 18 rounds of ammunition. When the weapon is operated (ready to fire position), the platform/system is supported by a stabilizing support positioned at the rear of the platform.
Besides being operated automatically, weapons can also be operated manually. The elevation angle and traversing angle are adjusted using a hydraulic operating system. For indirect fire, elevation angle: from 0° to 70°, with a traverse of 25° left and 50° right.

Armored cabin with a capacity of 5 personnel, standard security level armor of NATO STANAG 4569 Level I.
Using a driving machine in the form of a 6-cylinder MTU 6R106TD21 diesel engine with a power of 320 hp. Average speed on the highway: 80 km/h with a range of 500 km.
Ability to climb 36.4%, can cross vertical obstacles as high as 0.6 meters. Ability to wade in water as deep as 0.70 meters without
preparation beforehand. If with preparation, it can cross in water with a depth of 1.20 meters.
Size: Overall length: 10.30 meters, Width: 2.55 meters, Height: 3.44 meters.
Computer support: AFCS – Advanced Fire Control System including computers for navigation, aiming and ballistic systems. AFCS will display target information on the display screen, select the elevation angle and angle of rotation of the weapon, and aim the weapon at the target. Other supporters; muzzle velocity radar MVRS 700 SCD, and inertial navigation system TALLIN 5000.
After going through the field test and evaluation stages, it is estimated that this weapon system will be included in the ranks of the Polish Armed Forces in 2022.

The development was based on similar weapons of the same caliber; SpGH Zuzana 2. Equipped with Inertial navigation system, and muzzle velocity radar. FCS can be operated with digital maps, the shooting device (aldik) consists of a TV camera, a thermal camera
image, and a laser rangefinder. Electronic devices, diagnostics and operation automation both during loading of ammunition until firing. According to some observers, this EVA system is the most modern in its class for now.
The 155mm EVA TMG weapon system is characterized by high mobility, lighter weight than similar weapons. Protection for the crew of weapons against the threat of small caliber weapons, has a fairly long range of fire, relatively short preparation stages, and can conduct simultaneous shooting at one target point - shooting with a salvo system - MRSI.
All weapon/platform crew members are in a light armored cabin equipped with a filter and ventilation system. The weapon is supported by an automatic loading conveyor for 12 rounds of projectiles and 12 powder charges. So that it can fire a salvo of 5 projectiles in the first minute, and then shoot 9 projectiles in two minutes.
All ammunition reloading and shooting activities are controlled by the Danran from inside the cabin. Resupply of 12 projectiles and 12 powder charges are stored in ammunition packaging in the ammunition storage area which is also located on the chassis platform.
The platform for the EVA weapon system will be a Tatra 8x8 (T815-7) tactical truck chassis or alternatively a Tatra 6x6. The automation system is regulated using a sensing mechanism and barrel position adjustment as well as an automatic ammunition conveyor, including a system for loading ammunition into the bullet chamber.

The Tatra 8x8 truck uses a T3C-928.90 Euro 3 air-cooled turbocharged diesel engine, a power of 300 kW/1,800 rpm, or 2,100 Nm/1,000 rpm.
Transmission: Manual Tatra 10TS210 (option: Norgren semi-automatic electro-pneumatic gear shifting).
Vertical obstacle crossing capability: 0.50 meters

Average firing: 5 rounds per minute – the first firing, and 13 rounds at 3 minutes. In fashion

Amount of supplies carried: 12+12 projectiles, and 12+12 charges.
The system is supported by an auxiliary power unit, engine power output of 25kW, engine rotation speed of 2,600 rpm, nominal power output of 3.3 kW, battery accumulator capacity of 55Ah.
Ambient temperature for operation: -30 degrees C to 50 degrees C. 90% air humidity at +55 degrees C.
With reference to the JBMoU, the EVA weapon system can fire all types of NATO standard 155mm caliber munitions. Minimum range of fire is 5 km, maximum – with ERFB-BB projectiles over 41 km.

| PCL-181 |
One of the 155mm/L52 Mobile Howitzer weapon systems operated by the Chinese People's Liberation Army Ground Forces, the PCL-181, was shown to the public at the 1 October 2019 parade.
The PCL-181 was a replacement for the PL-66's 152mm towed gun, and the Type 59-1 130mm field gun. Started developing in 2017-2018. Originally referred to as the SH-15 (see Issue-7 article) it was developed from the SH-1. SH-1 , more aimed at the export market.
The PCL-181 was also originally intended for the export market, but the Chinese People's Liberation Army Ground Forces were also interested in operating the weapon system, so it was eventually assigned to the Medium Artillery Brigade and Heavy Artillery Brigade.
The concept applied to the PCL-181 is also based on the CAESAR Mobile Howitzer from France.
Weapon Briefing Data
The caliber used is 155mm/L52 which is exactly the same as the Howitzer GS PLZ-05, only the gun/howitzer used is a modification of the AH-2 field howitzer. The caliber is compatible with standard NATO 155mm ammunition, in addition to special ammunition developed by NORINCO.
It has a firing range of up to 40 km – with conventional type munitions, or when using V-LAP rocket assisted projectiles it can reach 53 km, and with extended range type projectiles it can reach 72 km. The PCL-181 can also fire laser-guided munitions that can be fired in a variety of weather conditions. Shooting has been tested and demonstrated. This weapon platform carries a stock of 27 rounds of ammunition.
The next development, the PCL-181 weapon can use precision guided munitions with laser and satellite guidance. The laser-guided munitions were developed on the basis of Russia's Krasnopol technology, where China already produces and exports such munitions.
The loading system for the howitzer is semi-automatic. Fully automatic fire control system with AFCS. The weapon operator only needs to input the target azimuth data, then the computer will calculate the trajectory of the cannon, and the degree of firing direction will run automatically. Average firing capability of 4 to 6 projectiles per minute.
Platforms/Vehicles
The platforms used are either the Taian GM 6x6 tactical truck, or the Shaanxi Y-9 chassis, with an armored cab. Overall combat weight of the system: 25 tons. Number of vehicle and weapons crew: 6 personnel.
The platform is equipped with two supports mounted on the rear for stability during firing. The length, width, and height measurements of PCL-181 have yet to be obtained. Generally reported size using the SH-15 weapon system.
Cruising speed on the highway: 90 km/h, with a range of 600 km. 60% gradeability and 40% sideways slope. The ability to cross 0.6 meter high vertical obstacles, 1.2 meter wide ramp and 1.2 meter high water wading.
As a relatively new weapon system, it turns out that interest from outside China is quite good. NORINCO as a producer certainly hopes that the export market will soon receive a contract (M.ALI Haroen.
